So you’ve planned your perfect day that feels just like it should, picking your personal style over tradition. And you’ve nailed down your elopement location, clothing, activities for your day, and are stoked for your photographer. However, you always thought that getting ready photos were for more traditional weddings, not eloping. Here are a few reasons why you should include them:
They tell the story of your whole day.
Since you’ve opted out of the traditional route, chances are you are spending the morning of your “I do” together. Some couples may even choose to get in a surf, a bike ride, a hike, and a cup of coffee together. Getting ready photos allow me to tell the story of another part of your day.
They capture the beautiful details of your elopement
Just because you aren’t having a large wedding, that doesn’t make it any less impressive or stunning. You still have picked out a dress or a suit (or whatever you chose to wear), florals, a beautiful location, and have details that tell your story as a couple. The details help make up the bigger picture.
They capture the intimate moments of you on your own
You on your own being one half of the partnership. Getting dressed and ready for this big day is an intimate part of the elopement process. I encourage you to finish writing vows, enjoy some moments alone journaling (if that’s your thing), and spend some time with your people you have supporting you, if you have brought a crew. If not, you can FaceTime with family, open any gifts or letters they have sent off with you, and just generally enjoy some down time. Think of how your partner will feel seeing these photos of you getting ready before you marry them.
It includes family + friends back home
Your family and friends are so excited for your new life adventure, and they would love to be included in whatever small way they can. This allows them to see what your elopement is like from start to finish.
